Scotland’s “direct line” to Brexit minister not being answered

As recently as 24th October, the First Ministers of Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland were promised a “direct line” with David Davis, Secretary for Brexit.

Nicola Sturgeon claimed that officials dialled the new number just before lunchtime on Tuesday 25th but were kept waiting for a reply which didn’t come until 6pm the next day, nearly 30 hours later.

The new hotline was announced by Mrs May, a measure to reassure Scotland and the other devolved nations that they would be making an important contribution to the UK’s exit strategy.

Mrs Sturgeon was scathing when the matter was raised at First Minister’s Questions on Thursday :

There is now a [hotline] we can call, it’s just currently not very hot
